Description:
This Remington Revolving Rifle is in the original 44 cal. percussion with a 24" barrel. There appear to be some very faint markings. I have not taken it apart. The rifle action is sound and the timing seems right. I did take the cylinder off to look down the bore some fairly deep rifling is present. There were only about 1000 of these rifles made in 36 and in 44 caliber. Most were converted to cartridge. There have been some work done in the past, prior to purchasing it. The stock at some point was expertly replaced(probably due to the wrist area breaking which was the weak point of many of these rifles. The original nipples have also been replacedand there appears to have some faint cold bluing (mostly worn off) that was added at some point.
. I would not have known this except the owner pointed these two areas out. This is a rare rifle and will only become rarer over time. I am selling without a reserve and a "buy it now option". The openingcould win you this rare rifle. I am open to partial trades in KY Rifles, Flintlocks , Sharps, etc.
