Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: The German G43 and K43 rifles were Nazi Germany's answer to the American M1 Garand. The Germans quickly figured out that in a large firefight they were at a distinct disadvantage as the average American soldier was equipped with a semi-auto 30-06 caliber rifle that held 8 rounds, while their troops were largely armed with bolt-action 8mm Mauser K98s with a magazine capacity of 5 rounds. The Germans tried to level the battlefield by issuing the semi-auto G41 rifle at first, but found that this design had numerous flaws and proved unsatisfactory in combat. They took the G41 and redesigned it, addressing the flaws and improving virtually every aspect of it. The culmination of this redesign was the G43/K43, adopted in 1943 (the G43 & K43 were identical, it was just renamed).. This example is a K43 and was produced at the very end of the war in 1945 by Berlin-Lubecker Maschinenfabrik. The firm was given the military ordnance code "qve" in an attempt to hide from the Allies who made it and where it was being made. This particular rifle is made up of non-matching serial numbered parts. Because it was assembled in late 1945 right before Germany capitulated, it could have been assembled that way originally by the Nazis in order to pump out as many rifles as possible before the plant was overrun, or it could have been assembled from leftover parts in post war Germany as someone's "war trophy" to take home. Either way it is not an import marked gun, and was almost certainly a GI "bring back" gun. While this K43 has a very good bore and is fully functional, many of the parts appear to have been refinished at some point. They are all original Nazi parts, but some of the finish looks too good or is too dark to be original. As you can see in the close-up picture I took, the sliding dust cover in the action has a broken tab but outside of that the rifle is complete including the cleaning rod and front sight hood. The stock is the original stock for the receiver but has been sanded. The serial number is still barely visible on the keel of the buttstock, "8475". The stock looks very nice and is 100% sound with no cracks, gouges, or repairs. This K43 comes with one original magazine which is also stamped with the model "K43", the maker code "gcb", and a Waffenamt. If you have been looking for a nice non-import stamped G/K43 that you can shoot and not spend a fortune on, here is your chance!
