Description:
Black Powder Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action Army Revolver. Serial no. 154470, 44-40 cal., 5 1/2 inch barrel bbl., nickel finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured in 1894. This is an extremely fine, totally original example of a blackpowder Colt SAA Frontier Six Shooter Revolver. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, "Colt Frontier Six Shooter" on the left side and the two line, three patent dates are marked on the left side of the frame followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard, and back strap, with the assembly number "348" on the loading gate. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel and fitted with checkered hard rubber with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.
Condition: Extremely fine. The revolver retains 80% untouched original nickel finish with overall scattered minor flaking. There is a smooth brown patina on the exposed areas. The grips have faded to brown and remain very fine with a moderate chip on the lower right rear and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. This is a "blue chip" blackpowder Colt SAA in desirable 44-40 WCF caliber!
