Description:

BRITISH Antique BRUNSWICK Percussion Musket

Made circa the 1840s w Two Groove Rifling

Here we present an antique British Brunswick Percussion Rifle Musket, made circa the 1840s, almost certainly in Nepal. The Brunswick was the replacement for the Baker flintlock musket, and what made it quite unique was the type of rifling. This rifle features two groove rifling that took a special ammunition that was a ball with a “belt” that fit those grooves. These saw much use in the British colonies, including India.

The rifle features a back action lock. The trigger guard acts as a pistol grip. The patch box is a large, heavy brass affair. The stock and sling swivels are much like those on the Brown Bess.

The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces are dark with age. The stock is mostly solid, aside from the portion near the front sling swivel. The bore is in good condition. The action is strong.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 30-5/8 inches in length.

Caliber: .70

Overall condition as seen in photos.
