Description:
This 1760's French & Indian War British Take-Down carbine has a 37" oct/rd. barrel in .78 cal. The hooked-breeched barrel has a slightly swamped muzzle and exhibits a spider based front sight similar to those found on trade guns of the period. The lock is signed T.Peele who is listed as a London gunsmith on his 1756 marriage certificate (copy will come with gun). The lock has a worn tumbler and won't hold on full cock. The original Horn tipped ramrod is still present. A nice and rare addition to any F&I War /Rev.War collection.
Take down means the officer could dismantle this particular flint lock and could be put in a saddle sleeve or nap sack.
Overall lengthts is 53"
uncommon, great color, great condition.
