Description:
Here's an example of the early first model large frame Merwin & Hulbert revolver. This one is factory engraved with an eagle and snake on the left side panel and a bunch of grapes on the right side panel. The remainder of the revolver is decorated with Merwin's famous punch dot engraving. It features a long 7-inch round barrel. The front sight is an integral blade and the rear is an integral V notch. The loading gate is interesting in that it drops straight down, which snaps firmly into place.
The overall condition is good. The metal surfaces have a nice even gray patina with touches of original nickel finish throughout. All assembly numbers match. The stag grips are quite worn with a repair to the heel of the left grip. The bore is dark with strong rifleing and in good condition. The action is strong. Serial number 6499
