Description:
Savage Arms Fox Sterlingworth 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun with extractors. Year of manufacture is 1936. The 30-inch barrels with 2 ¾ inch chambers are in excellent condition. The choke of the right barrel is Modified, while the choke of the left barrel is Improved Modified. All original finish on metal and wood. Bluing on the barrels is 95+ percent, a few minor marks. The case colors are about 80 percent on the sides of the lockbox, maybe 40 percent on the bottom, and 90+ percent on the tang. Case colors in sheltered areas are 90-95 percent. See photos. The right barrel is stamped with "SPECIAL ALLOY-----FORGED STEEL", and the left barrel is stamped with "SAVAGE ARMS CORPORATION, UTICA,N.Y.U.S.A. Both sides of the lockbox are engraved with a decorative pattern around and “FOX STERLINGWORTH”. The same decorative patternm is around the hinge, the bottom of the lock box, and the bottom of the trigger guard. The forearm is excellent condition with no sign of wear and no mars or scratches. The stock is in very good condition with a few scuff marks and minor scratches; the most significant scratches on the on the belly of the stock. Some of the finish (i.e., the lacquer) is missing on the left side of the stock, above the triggers, but the wood and the color of the wood is unaffected . The checkering on the grip and forearm is deep and fine with no damage. The butt plate is original; it is plain with no lettering or markings. Serial numbers all match – barrel flats, forearm, trigger guard, etc. LOP is 14 ¼ inches (front trigger) and 13 ½ inches (rear trigger). Tge drop at comb is 1 ¾ inches. The drop at the heel is 2 ¾ inches.
