Description:
SOLD ** DAKOTA MODEL 76 AFRICAN TRAVELER 416 RIGBY Upgrades, Scope and Case NEW

Description:
TAKEDOWN RIFLE 24" .416 Rigby, with special upgraded wood and upgraded fleur de lis with ribbon hand-checkering, Swarovski 30mm 1.25-4x24 in scope, Talley QD rings, standing leaf rear sight on ¼ rib with integral front sight with sight protector with push-button release, leather custom-fitted case in the French style by Collins. 12LBS X 13 3/4 LOP  NEW UNFIRED

The Traveler breaks down into two sections-the receiver/stock and the barrel/forend-for compact carry. The Bluebook describes this takedown as:

“almost seamless take down rifle based on the Dakota 76 design, threadless disassembly ensuring scope stability and accuracy, in addition to no possibility of increasing head space during repeated disassembly”

Available in several grades, but only available with 24” barrel in African grade. The African grade is true to the express style with barrel-band-mounted front sling swivel, a deep belly magazine box with a one-piece hinged straddle floorplate with a center-bow release, and two-screw inlaid rear sling swivel. Dakota’s African grade features XXX upgraded walnut stock with a shadow line Monte Carlo cheekpiece, hand cut checkering (wrap around on forend), an ebony forend tip and ebony cross bolt plugs. This rifle has all those features plus Dakota’s upgraded Fluer-de-lis with ribbon hand-checkering.  The satin finished stock shows outstanding figure and has a metal grip cap with Dakota medallion and original Pachmayr recoil pad yielding a 13 3/4” length of pull.

The checkered bolt knob is rust blued and the remaining metal is matte blued.

The standard Dakota Model 76 is one of the most desirable hunting rifles in the world, proven on every continent, in every climate and on every type of game. Exemplifying the very best of bolt action innovation with exquisite lines and impeccable shot to shot precision, it has deservedly taken its place among the legendary rifles of the 20th and 21st centuries.  Like the famed Winchester pre-64 Model 70, which the Dakota 76 emulates, the front action screw drives into the barrel flat rather than into the recoil lug which has accounted for superior accuracy over other commercial Mauser 98 take-offs. It features the Model 70 style of improved Mauser action in magnum size and includes a Model 70 three-position safety. If you are not familiar with Dakota rifles, you must discover the innovative concealed bolt release – which is another feature that truly separates Dakota as a custom maker from the commercial class, a nice improvement over the pre-64 Model 70’s bolt release.

Factory test fired only.

The scope is new, a high-end Austrian made Swarovski 1.25-4x24 with 30mm tube and German 3-bar reticle with fine dot mounted in Talley QD rings on Talley bases specifically made for Dakota receivers – the perfect African setup for this caliber, ready to go in the field.

According to the Bluebook, MSRP starts at $7,240, then add $3,300 for African Traveler, add $2,950 for African barrel, for a total of $13,490.  Add also for upgraded checkering $2,500, scope $ 1,200, Talley rings, $150, and $1,100 for Collins fitted-case, increasing the total to $18,440.

This is priced to sell at $11,440.00.
