Serial number 5560 made circa 1885. Number 3 of a trio. Nicely engraved action with excellent bluing on barrels, trigger guard, and sidelever. Recently refurbished it is tight on face and mechanically sound. Weight is 6lb 8oz. *** The straight grip stock and splinter forearm are made from nicely figured walnut and have crisp checkering. It has a checkered butt with steel heel and toe plates. There is a silver colored initial plate with a family crest on the bottom of the buttstock. The length of pull is 14-1/8” to a checkered butt. Slightly cast off for the right hand shot. *** The 27-1/2” sleeved steel barrels are nitro proofed for 3-1/4 tons and have 2-3/4” chambers. They are equipped with trouble free extractors. The solid raised concave game style rib is inscribed “Stephen Grant & Sons 67A St. James’s Street London”. The left barrel is choked Improved Cylinder. Minimum wall thickness is 0.037. The right barrel is choked Modified. Minimum wall thickness is 0.038. *** This is a really nice handling Grant sidelever 16 bore hammergun perfect for game or clays. Great price. Life is short.
