MODEL 1881 .40-60 MARLIN CALIBER (SAME AS .40-65 WIN.), 28" OCTAGON BARREL, MADE 1887, Amazingly, this one has an excellent bore with sharp rifling all the way through, fine butt stock with a bit better than standard grade walnut with correct smooth steel shotgun butt plate, forend has the usual short crack coming forward of the sliding loading gate and another crack coming back along the top of the forend- neither of which go from end to end and a little wood glue inside would about make them nearly disappear, very thinned and aged barrel blue mixing gray/brown, gray mag tube, some good aged blue on the receiver heavily mixing brown/gray, exc. screws and markings, no extra holes etc., tight wood to metal fit, exc. action, original buckhorn rear sight with small blade front sight.
