It has a 4.75" barrel and Colt hard-rubber hand grips which are in good condition. The serial number is 257372 and it was made in 1904. All serial numbers match. Also included is a letter of authenticity from Colt indicating that this revolver was shipped to the Simmons Hardware Company of St. Louis, Missouri in August of 1904. And since it was made in or after 1900, it can shoot modern smokeless ammunition with no worries. It shoots a tight group here at the local shooting range in Brownsville, Texas. Stamped on the left side of the barrel is: COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45 The top of the barrel is stamped: COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A. The left side of the frame below the cylinder is stamped: PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 JULY 2 72. JAN 19. 75. The COLT logo is also stamped next to these patent dates. The action is clean and crisp and all positions of the hammer - full down position, safety, half cock and fully cocked - function perfectly. The bore is bright and shiny with no pitting and has excellent lands & grooves. Much of the original blueing has faded to an attractive patina. Also included is a decorative vintage Lawrence Holster which compliments the 6-Gun nicely. Additionally included is a Colt Safety And Instruction Manual for this SAA Revolver and a box ( 50 rounds, 200 grains ) of .45 Colt ammunition by Cowboy Action Loads.
