Description:
A very charming untouched Winchester Model 42 Pre-War Solid Rib version shotgun. This gun's SN places it around 1940 production.
Original factory blue, original factory wood finish & hard rubber buttplate.
26" solid matted rib barrel, 3" chamber, full choke. Single metal front bead.
This gun still retains the majority of its factory bright high polished blue on the receiver & trigger guard. Very slight high edge wear from handling. Teeny spot of light scratching just above the loading port on the bottom left side of receiver. Light scratching in top matted section of receiver. Great sharp screws appear untouched. Matching SN front & rear. No typical scratching & gouging from takedown reassembly on left side of receiver.
Barrel & mag tube show most of original blue with slight handling marks & carry wear ahead of receiver on takedown ring & underside of tube & blue thinning at breech end of barrel. Slide pump & takedown wear. Sharp crisp factory markings on both sides of barrel. Mint bright bore.
Early pre-war style pistol grip & forend with nicer than average color & grain. Original finish with slight handling marks/bumps & scuffing. No deep mars or cracks. Nice factory wood to metal fit. Minor finish flaking at very rear of butt where joins factory hardrubber buttplate. Great dimensions.
Action works crisp & tight. A very nice honest example of a pre-war ribbed 42
