This Civil War Carbine in caliber .52 fires a linen or paper cartridge by the Lawrence pellet primer system or percussion cap.Manufactured by the Sharps Rifle Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut,the New Model 1859 and later 1863 were principal single-shot carbines of the Civil War.
