Description:
An exquisite 20 gauge over & under shotgun mfg. by Greifelt & Co, Suhl, Germany. Precisely constructed throughout. Beautifully and intricately engraved. Locks up like a bank vault, yet weighs only 5.7 lbs. and points like a dream. This is a pre WWII, fine European sporting shotgun with 26 inch barrels, extractors, finely checkered forearm and round knob pistol grip, solid matted rib, and bright bores. Imported back in the day by Von Lengerke & Detmold of New York and is so marked on barrel. Serial number is 29829.
Condition is very good with only notable issue a seam in butt stock about 1" from plate where section of stock was removed and later reattached, along with it's original butt plate. The work was very well done and does not detract unless under fairly close scrutiny. The nicely grained and richly colored wood is in otherwise very good shape with no significant marks or cracks. The rust blued barrels are in equally nice shape with just a few scattered light pitting marks on underside of bottom barrel very near the muzzle which are stable. The swirling case colors on receiver remain somewhat vivid overall.
Stock dimensions are approximately: 14 5/8 LOP, 1 5/8 drop at comb, 2 3/4 drop at heel. Chokes appear to be very similar at improved cylinder according to my step gauge.
