This is a Colt Lightning Rifle, .22 caliber, short or long , , pump action made in 1904. This model was produced from 1897 to 1904. It has a 24' octogon barrel and a walnut stock. The action is strong and the bore looks fine. With about 85- 90%+ of the blue finish remaining , by NRA standards this rifle would rate FINE +. The overall appearance of the rifle is excellent. The top of the barrel is marked: "Colt's PT FA Mfg Co., Hartford, Ct. USA " along with "Patented May 29, Sept. 1883, May 28, 85,June 15, 88, Feb. 22, 1887." Only around 90,000 of this model Colt were produced.
