A beautiful piece. All metal except two barrel bands and the butt stock appear to be made of a nickel steel. All markings are sharp and distinct. The metal is in 90 to 95% condition. The stock is in good condition with a few dings and two minor splits on top and near the end of the barrel, (which you have to look hard to find). The stock is stamped "26317".Included is an original looking green fabric sling. There is no rear sight. Has been cut for the Pederson device which adds to its collector value. The device and the magazine can add a lot to the value. Only 102,000 were cut for the device during the period 1918-1920. Markings on top, forward of the bolt read "U.S. Springfield Armory Model 1903 Mark I". Serial # 1,11x,xxx. Bore looks good. Compartment in butt of stock for a cleaning rod (not included). End of barrel is marked "S.A., 10-19 (presumably standing for- October- 1919), and a flaming bomb design proof mark. Would make a nice hunting rifle. Also have a military dated canvas carry case for this rifle which can be purchased separately. .
