(pre war) Wood and metal are both in about 95% condition with only minor handling marks. Cartridges are loaded through a port in the stock which contains a tubular magazine. The rear sight is adjustable. There is a safety at the rear end of the breach. I haven't seen one better than this one. This is a semi-automatic action ! The barrel is marked "Winchester Model 74 .22LR" "Made in U.S.A. Winchester Repeating Arms Co., New Haven, Conn. Patent Pending" There is a sliding push type safety at the very end on the barrel. A nice collectible and shootable rifle that you don't see every day and made with typical Winchester quality and reliability. . The 24" barrel is round. The bore is bright and shiney with lots of sharp rifling. Winchesters are rapidly increasing in value. This rifle looks much better than the pictures shown! I am selling a large collection.
