Description:
NEW HAVEN ARMS COMPANY HENRY LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Caliber .44 Henry. The receiver & buttplate are engraved with a floral scroll and floral blossom pattern on a dot background, similar to the "Hoggson" style, with bold foliate patterns that extends over the top 3 flats of the receiver and around edge at the buttstock.,bottom tang and top tang of buttplate., with blank inscription barrer. Has a 24" barrel with strong bore showing light pitting. A folding leaf rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards is mounted on top of the receiver. Has a Silver blade front sight. Matching serial numbers were observed on the bbl, lower tang under stock,in wood under top tang, buttplate and both buttplate screws, and on upper and lower stock screws. Top barrel flat is marked,"HENRY'S PATENT OCT. 16 1860/MANUFACT'D BY THE NEWHAVEN ARMS CO. NEWHAVEN CT". ahead of the rear sight dovetail slot. The serial number is marked on the top flat at the breech. Has a smooth highly figured American walnut Buttstock with very few handling marks. Buyer pays $45.00 shipping to lower 48 states.
