Description:
ALMOST NEVER SEEN SADDLE RING CAVALRY CARBINE NEW YORK STATE CONTRACT .50-70 CALIBER ROLLING BLOCK, ONLY 1500 MADE 1873, one of the more scarce Rolling Block carbines and one of the most desirable, this one has excellent butt stock and forearm with sharp and clear correct banner cartouche on the left side of the wrist and rack numbers stamped in the comb just ahead of the top of the butt plate, excellent bright bore, original and correct carbine leaf sight, gray barrel with scattered mostly surface rust spots that have NOT been cleaned (the way I found it), receiver about the same, fine markings on the upper tang, when I found this one it had the wrong hammer and I was fortunate enough to find an original correct "high hammer" used only on this model! I replaced the old one with the original and it works fine, but could use a little "tuning" as it has a fairly heavy pull etc. but looks correct and is correct- fortunately, the Rolling Block is about the easiest action to work on should someone wish to do so, lots of potential in this carbine that only needs a little careful cleaning.
