Description:
This is an interesting "Tack" marked Single Shot 12 gauge, breech loading shotgun. It is Marked on left side, in Cartouches, "U.S/PINE RIDGE/ INDIAN AGENCY". /UNITED STATES/INDIAN POLICE/1889". Also has round head brass tacks that spell, "U S", and another small cartouche,"1889". The right hand side has a silver colored "Medallion" that has,"INDIAN, U S /POLICE" Interior of medallion says," 1889 SGT". the medallion is securley fastend with flat head brass tacks. It also has stamped in wood, "U S / PINE RIDGE/ INDIAN AGENCY". Both sides of the wood stock is well decorated with round headed tacks. A couple of the heads have come off and look to be 2 piece , iron base with brass heads. I believe it to be 12 gauge cartridge. Has a 25" barrel showing roughness, throughout.. Action is loose and would not recommend firing in it's present condition. It is marked "ZULU" on top of the barrel. I believe it is based on the Snider Action, of French design.
