Manufactured in the 1920s and 1930s, Simson & Company was primarily a sporting arms company, but as a result of political issues became the sole provider for Luger pistols to the Weimar Republic, refurbishing the Reichwehr's treaty-limited stock of handguns and producing needed replacements. Simson lost this privileged status with the rise of the Nazis. Blade and notch sights, a blank chamber and "SIMSON & Co/SUHL" on the front toggle. Small "eagle/6" proofs and "eagle" firing proofs are present on multiple parts, and "eagle/33" on the right side of the extension. There were approximately 12,000 of these pistols made, making them them somewhat rare. This all numbers matching (except for the magazine) Police stamped Simson & Co. Luger is in excellent condition, retaining 99% of its blue finish and all the straw parts retaining all of their finishes. The grips, which number to the gun, are in excellent condition, with sharp checkering and no chips or cracks. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, and the action functions perfectly. Nice Luger.
