“BELGIUM” Marked Antique Percussion Fowler
Fowl Hunting Shotgun Made Circa 1840
Here we present an antique Percussion Fowler, made circa 1840 in Belgium. This would likely have been exported from Belgium to a country like the United States with a thriving market for all sorts of firearms. As people moved West and settled in remote areas, hunting was especially important to put food on the table. This would have been a good tool for fowl hunting. It is marked “BELGIUM” on the lock and bears Belgian proof marks on the barrel.
Condition is fair. Metal is dark and markings are legible. The stock has seen minor repairs. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is functional, but a bit rough.
