German Fortuna Drilling. 16 ga.x16ga x 7x65R with 22 magnum chamber insert. 24 3/4" barrels with all bright excellent bores ,16 ga shotgun choked-modified and full. Zeiss Diatal 4x32 scope in duel claw mounts. Proofed 1971 Serial Number 9623XX. Has the “1st Qualty” ,“Q” with superimposed “1” mark on rear lug found on earlier Merkel shotguns.
Double Set triggers, cocking indicators. Tang Shotgun/Rifle barrel selector-pop up front rifle sight.
Barrels on this 1st quality Suhl-made drilling are about 95% original blue. Coin-finished frame is excellent condition, with very nice deeply engraved game scenes .Bellowing Stag on left side and Ducks in marsh on right, scroll engraving with the Thuringen Wald trademark on belly-same as used by Merkel.
European walnut hogback stock. Has a 14 1/4" length of pull-over 1” Pachmayr pad; the stock looks uncut and if one wished to put on a horn buttplate could be done fairly easily .The automatic flip-up rear sight when rifle barrel is actuated works perfectly. Dual claw bases for scope mounting, with two sets of front bases for longer and shorter tube scopes, the rear set has a nice Carl Zeiss Diatal-D 4x32 sight with thick three-post German reticle ,optics are bright and clear
Overall a really well-executed and “1st” quality Suhl Drilling, born in same plant as Merkels and Sauers at a great price. Nice slim 16Ga with a great Rifle round-availble here from S&B for around 20 per box-popular in Europe for big game,.
Offered at Reduced $3595, plus shipping/insurance to your FFL,should be about $50-65 with insurance.
