Description:
(Sale Pending) A COLT 45 U.S 1911 NAVY CONTRACT GUN. This is from the 1913 contract around Aug. It has mostly correct parts. The frame has good blue with no pitting but does show some blood spotting near the trigger guard.The slide is marked ARMY and not Navy but is time period correct with the 1911 pat. date. The magazine is a later 1916 or later issue. The gun is used and shows use. The barrel is correct with the P H horizontal marking on the hood, and the #5 near the barrel lug. The bore is corroded and the rifling is shallow. The grips are right but worn. To find any Navy serial #' frame is exciting. The gun has some fire blue on the trigger and barrel bushing. This gun I am sure shipped as part of a 6800 gun order to the Navy. Hard to find gun in any condition and quite desirable.
