Description:
Special order Winchester Model 1894 short rifle with factory 22" round barrel and factory 2/3 magazine. Has correct shorter 8 3/8" forearm typical of factory short rifles. Front and rear sight dovetails are the correct distances/placements for a short rifle. Caliber 30WCF. Serial # 578xxx manufactured approximately 1911. Barrel and mag 85% original blue. Receiver mostly gray with streaks of patina. Stocks are sound, free of splits and cracks, no extra holes. Forearm cleaned and varnish added but not sanded or undersized. Buttstock shows evidence of light sanding as it is shy at upper right tang and near butt plate. Stocks do have nicks and dings from normal use. Action is crisp and tight. Half cock safety seems to function properly. Bore is excellent, bright and shiny, no frost, no pitting, only minimal wear, about a 9 of 10. Should make a good shooter upon inspection by a competent gunsmith. Rear sight is the 3-leaf express variety, often seen on 30WCF short rifles, and all 3 leaves are intact. Front sight is a Lyman. Had tang sight at one time, now gone, strong original blue remains on upper tang. Overall nice specimen of an 1894 short rifle in an uncommon configuration. FFL or C&R required. No sales to California and no international sales. Payment via money order or bank check only. 3 day non-firing inspection, return shipping is buyer's responsibility.
