Description:
  This is a Colt pre aircrewman 38 with a 2 inch barrel. This gun was shipped to Joseph A Lorch to take to the military as a example of the alloy cylinder gun that would become the aircreman. It letters as a Detective Special as this shipped before the Cobra was cataloged but has the Cobra barrel. Colt did not start calling this gun the cobra till June of 1951 and this gun shipped in May. This gun is 98% all original with a period box not numbered to the gun. The gun is a duo tone finish and has a B marked on 2 cylinders. Not sure of the meaning of this but it was done at Colt and marked before the gun was finished. This gun is extremely rare and has a profound presents in the history of Colt revolver development.
