Description:
It is our pleasure to offer an incredibly unique and rare rifle for the first time in decades, a Beretta Model BM62 in excellent minty condition with the original box.  Imported by Berben Inc. in New York, NY., there were only 2000 of these rifles imported into the United States in 1980.  The Beretta BM62 was a civilian version of the Italian Military's Beretta BM59.  The BM59 was based off of the U.S. M1 Garand rifle but used a detachable box magazine, was capable of select fire, and came standard with a grenade launching sight and bipod attached.  Beretta decided to build some rifles for the civilian export market, and the BM62 and BM69 were the chosen variations.  This example is a BM62, which featured a finger groove stock without the provisions for the bipod that came on the BM59, a factory mounted recoil pad, a solid short flash hider without vents, and a 17.5 inch chrome lined barrel without a bayonet lug.  The Beretta BM62 resembles a mixture of a "Tanker" style M1 Garand and a Springfield M1A.  The rifle is well balanced, powerful and accurate, very reliable, well made, and very attractive in design.  This example is serial number 002828 and is in all-original minty condition complete with the original box.  The factory parkerized finish rates 98 to 99% with the only signs of wear showing as thinning on the lugs of the bolt from the bolt being opened and closed.  The rifle and bolt face show no signs of having been fired since it left the factory test fire range.  The bore is bright and minty with sharp lands and grooves on the rifling.  The hardwood stock is also in excellent condition.  The wood has some nice contrast in the grain and shows only a few very small handling/storage dings, free from any cracks or repairs.  The factory black rubber pad has deteriorated a little and hardened over time due to the natural rubber content, but it still looks good.  This BM62 comes with an original 20 round factory magazine and the original cardboard shipping box with wood insert.  Of interest is that the box has a small logo in Italian showing that this rifle was built during Beretta's 300th year in business, from 1680 to 1980.  Everything works on this rifle from the sights to the action 100% like the day it left the Beretta factory.  It even appears to have the original white grease from the factory still in place.  If you have been looking for one of these rare and unique rifles this is a fleeting chance to get one in nearly pristine condition.  It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this example, and there is very little doubt that these rare Beretta BM62s will continue to appreciate in value every year.
