Description:
For sale, a Yugo Model 1924 Short Rifle in 8mm Mauser that has some matching parts and is NOT IMPORT MARKED!  It is very rare for us to encounter one of these without import stamps.  This rifle could have potentially been brought back as a war trophy given that these were used by Germany's ally in WW2 and in some cases, by German soldiers themselves.  The Model 1924 Short Rifle has a full length stock with a pistol grip and the handguard goes from the receiver all the way to the top barrel band.  The barrel is 23.25 inches long with a tangent rear sight graduated to 2000 Meters.  They are chambered in 8mm Mauser (7.92x57) and feature the Yugoslavian crest over the model designation on top of the Mauser design receiver ring.  The Model 1924 Short Rifle and 1924 Carbine served the Yugoslavian Army from 1924 thru WW2 as one of Nazi Germany's allies and beyond into the post war years.  They were a rugged, well built rifle based on a Mauser action and earned a reputation for extreme reliability and good accuracy.  It was not uncommon to see German soldiers who served in close proximity to the Yugo army carrying these as well.  By the end of WW2 when Germany was hurting for serviceable battle rifles these Model 1924s were often used whenever they were available with second line troops, guards, police, and mobilized "Volkstrum" units to protect the German homeland.  This particular Model 1924 Short Rifle is serial number 255238 and has a matching bolt but mismatched German K98 safety made by J.P. Sauer (Eagle 37 waffenamt).  The upper band is un-numbered but has a "3" stamped on it like many other parts on this rifle.  The floorplate and trigger guard are not matching serial numbers but both also have the "3" stamped on them and the serial numbers are in the 250000 range like the receiver and bolt.  The stock is mismatched as well but in the 250000 range, and the original Yugo cartouches are faint but still visible.  The bore in this rifle is still good.  While it is a little "dark" overall, the rifling is still very strong with nicely defined lands and grooves.  The headspace has been checked and it is excellent, so this rifle could be fired with confidence and is likely still very accurate.  Everything still functions on this Model 1924 100% like the day it left the factory.  This is a chance to get a neat rifle that may have been used by the Yugoslavians and Germans in WW2 that is free from import stamps and in good condition overall for a fraction of what a K98 would cost you!
