Description:
For sale, a Walther Sportmodell Meisterbuchse .22 single shot rifle made during the Nazi era from 1935 to 1940 until the demands of WW2 put a strain on weapons production outside of military weapons.  This particular model was the best single shot rimfire rifle that Walther could make, and it was called the Sportmodell Meisterbuchse(Champion's Rifle).  This model was built on either a Sportmodell IV or Sportmodell V action and featured an oversize Walnut target stock with fine checkering and a relief cut for the right hand thumb, an adjustable target trigger, 3 sling swivel studs, and a heavy profile match grade target barrel. These had the highest degree of fit and finish that Walther could muster and these rifles quickly earned a reputation for being EXTREMELY accurate.  This example was built on a Sportmodell V action which is easily recognized by the square wing style safety at the rear of the bolt (The IV's had a round disc at the rear of the bolt).  This Walther is in excellent shape mechanically but it shows that it has not been properly stored over the years.  As you can see in the pictures the metal parts have some oxidated areas and some pitting on the bolt knob, but it still looks pretty good overall with most of the original factory blue finish still showing gloss.  The stock is solid structurally and still has some nice sharp checkering left, but also shows some rough handling or storage with small gouges and scratches/dents scattered from front to back.  This Walther still has the 3 factory mounted sling swivel studs, one front and rear and one mounted on the left side of the stock for an offhand shooting sling.  The original rubber pad has deteriorated and has somewhat collapsed.  The bore in this rifle is pristine and bright.  The rifling looks great with sharp lands and grooves; this rifle should still shoot with the very best of them.  The trigger is very nice and light, and the action is smooth and locks up tight.  The adjustable rear sight is missing, but the front sight is there so it will need to be replaced or have optics mounted.  This would be easy as the receiver came factory grooved for tip-off style rings.  This rifle would be an excellent shooter/target rifle with some cool history to it that would surely be a conversation piece at the range.
