The "Registered pouch was carried right along with the Wells Fargo strong box and often had more valuables than the box it's self." It has a handle attached to the leather top. The bag flap is secured with a strap run through three iron loops on the front. The strap attaches on the back with a padlock. It's a very rugged, old express bag with heavy duty stitching up and down both sides. The handle is attached with steel rivets. It shows age and wear but has a great look with rich coloring in an Old West style. The belt is still solid and attached to its original steel latch at the end. Despite all the heavy loads this pouch has carried, even the bottom of this pouch is still in good shape. The leather is still pliable with only shows its age with some staining on the leather, but no holes, breaks or tears. The stitching on the sides is tight and strong without a single stitch missing. For it's age this bag is well preserved and would provide a century of service yet. It measures about 18 inches high not including the handle, 12 inches wide, and about 4 1/2 inches deep. On the back at the top is the makers mark: GOLD BOND LUGGAGE and has an Eagle stamped above the name. It was an important piece of express and postal history that you don't find everyday. I have added a reproduction iron padlock with keys just for fun. Other items pictured are not included. Payment Cash, postal money order, cashiers check, personal & business checks. Can be ordered with a credit card or paypal at wxx.riverjunction, cxx just type in the number 4802 in the search box. SOLD |
