Description:
Springfield fencing musket. There were about 1500 of these made from 1905-1906. The Type III is similar to the Type II, but shortened to 43-1/2 inches. Stock shows a nice SWP/1884 cartouche and proof. Model 1873 rifles were modified and used with a leather covered bayonet for fencing. This fencing musket still has the original lead filled barrel. Overall good to very good with gouges to the stock from use. This fencing musket is in way above average condition with decent wood, and very nice case colors on the trap door.
