Description:
Handsome and sturdy 12 bore boxlock ejector Midland Pigeon Gun from a well known Birmingham maker of quality doubles. This gun, number 1085xx, was made sometime between 1925 – 1954 with 32” nitro steel barrels and 3” chambers. It has extensive engraving on the frame including a pigeon on each side. It is a strong action with side clips and a top rib extension with crossbolt. It also has a unique raised solid hand file cut crosshatched rib. Beautiful, highly figured English walnut stock with swept back pistol grip and splinter forearm. In addition to sideclips and a third fastener for strength this pigeon gun has double triggers and ejectors. Non-auto safety just as you would expect for a pigeon gun. Weight is 8lb 5oz.   ***   The sturdy stock, crafted from highly figured English walnut, has crisp checkering and a blank initial plate. It appears to have been recently and professionally refinished. Has a few minor handling marks and a dent on the forearm wood. There is checkering on the panels where the stock meets the frame which adds a nice touch. Stock dimensions are 15” over a 1” red Silvers pad by 1-3/8” by 1-3/4”. Perfect dimensions for flyers.. Slightly cast off for the right handed shooter.   ***   The 32” nitro steel barrels are chambered for 3” cartridges and have excellent bluing. The left barrel is bored 0.735 and has a constriction of 0.043 for Full Choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.033. The right barrel is also bored 0.735 with a constriction of 0.009 for Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.033.  ***   I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL license. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws.
