RARE Antique COWLES & SON Single Shot Deringer
Only a Few Thousand Made!
Here we present an antique Cowles & Son Single Shot Deringer, made circa 1870, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Only a few thousand are thought to have been made, that figure split into a handful of variations. The pistol was designed to be a tiny self-defense tool. Its barrel pivots upon depression of the plunger on the bottom of the frame. The top of the barrel reads “COWLES & SON/CHICOPEE MASS.”
The markings are mostly legible. The serial numbers match from the gun to the grips. Bore is clearly rifled and clean. The pin going through the brass frame is a replacement. The action is functional.
