Description:
Nice Thomas Bland hammergun with proven rotary underlever and 31” nitro Damascus barrels. This heavy game gun is actually a 10 bore that was chamber-sleeved to 12 gauge. As a result it is now an over-bored 12 gauge that throws great patterns. Stocked in a nicely figured piece of English walnut with pistol grip and splinter forearm. Well done game scene engraving of two setters pointing birds on both sides of frame. Serial number 3103 was made circa 1870 – 1880. Gun weighs 8lb 15oz and has double triggers and extractors.   ***   The swept back pistol grip stock is nicely figured with crisp checkering and just a few handling marks. Very shootable dimensions with 15-1/8” length of pull. Slightly cast off for the right hand shot.    ***   The 31” barrels are made of well figured nitro Damascus and retain their original chamber length of 2-7/8”.The are topped by a raised solid concave rib and have extractors. The browning on the Damascus is in overall good shape but there are a few indications of finish wear. Bores are shiny and bright but show a few indications of mild pitting as would be expected of a gun of this vintage. No problem as there is an abundance of wall thickness. The left barrel is bored 0.759 with a constriction of 0.005 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.045. The right barrel is bored 0.763 and has a constriction of 0.003 for Skeet choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.042.   ***    Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period and will only accept returns at buyer’s expense if the gun is not as described in the listing.
