Description:
Savage Fox Model B 12-gauge double-barrel shotgun with extractors and double triggers. Based on the date code 8K, the year of manufacture is 1959. 26-inch barrels, with a ventilated rib, standard modified/improved chokes, and 2 ¾ inch chambers; bores are in excellent condition. Front and mid brass beads are mounted on the ventilated rib. All original finish on metal and wood. Bluing on the barrels is 95+ percent, a few minor marks. The case colors are about 70 percent on the sides of the lockbox, mostly gone on the bottom (except near the trigger guard where they are very visible), and 50 percent on the tang. See photos. Both sides of the lockbox are engraved with a decorative pattern around the word “FOX." The bottom of the lock box is engraved with a hunting scene picturing several ducks lifting on the water with reeds and other vegetation in the foreground. The forearm has good coloring and crisp checkering. However, there are a number of dents to the wood on the bottom rear of the forearm near the lock box, where it looks like someone habitually rested the forearm on a hard surface. The right side of the forearm, towards the rear, has one place where the wood is chipped out, and the right side of the forearm, towards the rear, has several small gouges. The stock is in good condition with deep coloring and crisp checkering. However, there is some darkening discoloration where the stock meet the lock box. The stock has some scuff marks and minor scratches, particularly on the right side. The butt plate is original; it is plain black with no lettering or markings. As was common with the Fox Model B, this shotgun has no serial number. However, large letters Q Z appear on the barrel flats, the water table of the lockbox, and the underside of the forearm, indicating that all three parts match. LOP is 14 inches (front trigger) and 13 inches (rear trigger). The drop at comb is 1 ¾ inches. The drop at the heel is 2 ¾ inches. Must ship to FFL.
