Description:
#5001 Colt D/A 1892 “swing-out cylinder” revolver, 4-1/2” barrel, 41caliber, 15xxx serial range and thus made in 1893. Fine mechanics and VG bore (a 7+), fine metal with no pitting, strong markings and about 70% coverage of very thin blue turning brown and 20% density. Grips are also VG-VG+ with minimal wear and no chips. This was the second model of the “modern” Colts having the fast loading and a counter-clockwise rotating swing out cylinder. It was quite successful with well over 290,000 made in several sub-models such as the Model 1894, 1895, 1896, 1901, and 1903 each of which had minor changes and improved mechanics. This early antique Colt revolver is considerably better than the “usually found” specimens at most average gun shows. VG++ $1250
