#103196, W & C Scott & Son, Makers "The Imperial Premier": The Highest Grade Scott Ever Offered by Them as a "Imperial Premier", A 12 Bore Pigeon Gun Made in 1924, 32" Ejector Vent Rib Barrels with a Rib Extension & Crossbolt at .729 .035 & .023" (Full & Mod.), Original 2 3/4", Wall thickness on the right & left barrel at .028", Birmingham proved at 1 1/4 ounce & 2 3/4" chambers, Side clip action body, A Westley Richards single non selective trigger that was converted from a single selective Westley trigger, Beavertail forend that was professionally replaced but the original forend comes with the gun, Open pistol grip stock at 15 1/4 x 1 1/2 x 1 3/4" over a slight monte carlo comb with a 1 1/8" Kickeez pad plus a 9/16" spacer, Remove the spacer and it comes out at 14 11/16" with a 1" pad, 9 lbs. 1 oz., Built as a Pigeon gun without a safety on the top tang, 100% coverage of Imperial Premier engraving on the frame, locks, forend metal, top tang, trigger guard and on the barrels at the breech, It has 12 game birds engraved on the frame and lockplates plus a Pigeon on the rib at the barrel breech, Excellent Italian walnut with excellent color and contrast that borders on being an Exhibition piece of wood, Fleur-de-lis checkering that was cut only on the Imperial grade, The barrels have been professionally reblacked and now remain at 98% with all address engraving still very sharp, Retains 70% original case colors, The buttstock re-oiled but I doubt if sanded as no metal or wood is proud anywhere, The bores remain excellent on both barrels and not reamed or polished as they remain with the correct bore size as proved. Scott also offered a Premier grade but this gun was their highest grade ever offered as a "Premier Imperial" or "Imperial Premier". When offered it was more expensive than best guns by Purdey, Boss, Woodward and an H&H Modele De Luxe. In 1928 the Imperial Premier cost $1200 U. S.; a Holland & Holland Modele de Luxe was $1150. In 1928 you could almost buy 3 each Ford Model A's for the price of this gun. In the last 93 years this gun has had only 2 owners; the gentleman Pigeon shooter I got this gun from bought it from the family of the original owner in Texas and they knew each other well and both were active Pigeon shooters. ///////////////////////////////////// W & C Scott and Webley & Scott is one of the best known names in the British sporting gun trade. They made a lot of guns but also produced some very high quality pieces. They provided a lot of semi-finished and finished guns to nearly everyone in the trade. William Scott set up shop in 1834, in 1897 he joined with P. Webley & Son and basically made guns until 1979 and then it again became W & C Scott. In 1985 Holland & Holland acquired the name and I believe the last Scott made was in 1991.
