Description:
Magnificent and Rare Boss Double Rifle. SN#: 3699 Cal:500 - 3" BPE. 27 1/2" steel barrels with one standing, one folding sight. Extractors. Bottom rib marked "Boss & Co. 73 St. James Street London". Super strong Jones underlever sidelock action. Frame and locks beautifully scroll engraved and case-colored. Double triggers. Nicely figured English walnut, metal capped pistol-grip stock with checkered and engraved steel buttplate. 14 1/2" LOP, DAC 1 1/2", DAH 2 1/2". Gun weighs 9lbs 3oz. Cased in waxed canvas english case w/ red interior and maker label.
Condition: Gun is in exceptional overall condition, as partially London quality refinished. Barrels retain nearly all of their London quality re-black. Bores are extremely bright, clean, and with substantially strong rifling remaining. Barrels ring better than church bells. Action engraving is extremely sharp and bright. Some case color remains although mostly muted throughout. Gun was recently cleaned and re-varnished and looks pristine. Stock retains nearly all of its London oil reconditioning. Very old and small repair notice on top of grip halfway between top tang end and stock comb point with no indication of or visual flaws beyond. Gun functions fine and locks up tight. Case is in very good overall condition with excellent red lining as replaced in the past 20 years.
