Description:
REMINGTON-SMOOT NICKEL ENGRAVED,  Model No.1,  90-95% NICKEL  Barrel marking E Remington & SONS, iLLION, N.Y./ PAT. W.S.SMOOTOCT,21,1873.  This model has the ejector spring inside the housing under the barrel while the ejector rod is outside the housing. I have a second one, bright nickel 100% where both the ejector spring is wrapped around the ejector rod and both are EXTERIOR to the frame.
This engraved model has full engraving on the frame, grip and cylinder.  .32 rimfire caliber.
Overall, very good to fine nickel.  Good bore, Factory pearl grips. Only about 3,000 were made and they were a competitor to the Colt line of metallic cartridge pocket revolvers.
This revolver was in the lifetime collection of my grandfather, John Benjamin Gillespie (1899-1973), a lifetime policeman, Captain and Chief of Detectives of the Aberdeen, Washington Police Department, since about 1940.
