ENGRAVED Antique BELGIAN Pinfire Revolver
7mm Lefaucheux Pinfire Revolver
Here we present an antique Belgian Pinfire Revolver, made in Liege circa 1880. Casimir Lefaucheux patented the pinfire cartridge in 1835 and son Eugene designed the pistol. The pinfire cartridge was one of the first successful self-contained cartridges in history, and the pistol saw prolific use in Europe during the 19th century, even being adopted by some militaries.
This example is an engraved concealed carry version with a small stature and a foldable trigger. The front sight is a conical tower with a large bead. Frame, cylinder and barrel are all engraved with floral scroll. “VL” is marked under the left grip panel. The right side of the barrel is marked “*/N”.
The overall condition is very good. The metal was left in the white and has been well-cared for over the last 140 years. Engraving and markings are sharp and legible. The grip panels are very good, with good checkering. The bore is sharp and clean. The action is strong.
