HIGH CONDITION MARLIN-BALLARD No. 8 UNION HILL TARGET RIFLE IN .32-40 CALIBER. Wonderful unmessed with condition as it was stored in grease for probably the last number of decades! All metal parts were coated in dried grease that looked like brown shellac. I used some solvent to carefully remove the worst of the coating only to reveal deep blue on the entire barrel and lovely dark case colors on the receiver and breech block etc. I didn't take all of it off- I'll leave that to whoever buys this one- but there is still more case color to be revealed, double set triggers work fine, BORE IS MINTY BRIGHT! Has the correct windage adjustable globe front sight with mid range vernier tang sight and no provision or dovetail for a rear barrel sight (which is correct), sharp checkered pistol grip stock and forearm, full nickel plating remains on the Swiss butt! Most of the wood finish remains, has only some short age cracks coming forward from the butt plate in the grain of the wood and really is meaningless and hard to see, very tight action, all matching numbers, 30" half octagon barrel, a superb example just recently out of storage!
