For sale, an antique A.H. Waters & Co. Model 1836 Flintlock Pistol in .54 Caliber. This Model 1836 was the very last U.S. Martial flintlock accepted by the military. This pistol was an improved version of the Model 1826 pistol. It was much better pistol in quality of workmanship and materials as well as ignition design. Collectors widely consider this the most attractive and best performing of all the U.S. Military flintlock pistols. Many of these were converted to percussian and continued to see use in the Mexican War and American Civil War. This example is still in original working condition. The bore is good and the pistol is complete. The lock plate is stamped with the maker's name which is mostly illegible, but the place of manufacture is still visible. This model was made in Milbury, Mass. and is stamped with the date of 1844, so we know it is a A.H. Waters & Co. This is a really nice specimen that has not been converted to percussion with a nice patina. See pictures to see the overall condition. Would be a great addition to any early American Arms collection as this pistol was certainly an historically important step in the evolution of U.S. Military sidearms.
