Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: A nice 1863 Springfield Musket manufactured in 1864. This was the standard long arm of the Union forces in the American Civil War with widespread use on both sides. This example is in good shape overall. The lockplate shows the date 1864 and opposite of the lock the two inspection cartouches are clean and clearly visible. The bore is also in great shape. Everything works 100% like it should. This particular musket is unique in that it appears the stock was either repaired or issued with a two piece butt portion. You can see in the pics that there is a seam that is very hard to see running vertically from top to bottom about halfway from the buttplate to the lock. If it was a repair it was a near perfect job. You cannot feel the seam whatsoever. It certainly appears to have been done a long time ago, possibly from Springfield itself. This would be a great addition to any Civil War collection, a great decorator, or even could be used by a re-enactor.
