Description:
This 1856 vintage, Third Model Colt 1851 Navy, in the 57,000 serial range, is in excellent original condition. It retains much of the color case-hardening on the frame and hammer and blue on the barrel and cylinder. All serial numbers match, including those on the wedge and arbor. The walnut grips show good inspector's cartouches on both sides and very little signs of wear. The frame is clearly marked with the "U.S." stamp on the left side. The grip straps are brass not iron, and it is not cut for a shoulder stock. The cylinder scene is very good and the action is tight and sound. The bore is good, but not perfect, and one frame pin is broken. Overall, this is a great example of the rare military variation of the 1851 Colt Navy revolver.
