Description:
Original 1878 Sharps Borchardt Carbine. Marked "Sharps Rifle Co., Bridgeport, Conn. USA Old Reliable" Serial number 20403. 45-70. J.P. Lower marked. 24" barrel, 40" overall length. Correct Lawrence marked rear sight. Saddle Ring, checkered steel butt plate. Bore shows some pitting but is shiny and overall very good. Stock shows numerous dings, scratches, and 1.5" crack on right side behind the receiver. Also a small crack and a few chips around the butt plate. The metal retains some original finish but most is gone. Some handling marks and small dings. One of 384 produced. A scripted L on the underside of action in front of the trigger. Functions correctly.
