Description:
The Rock Ola company was well known for their electric Juke Boxes prior to World War 2 breaking out.  When the United States mobilized for war and companies all over the U.S. were given the chance to produce war materials instead of their normal products, Rock Ola won a government contract as one of ten manufacturers chosen to build the U.S. M1 Carbine.  They immediately had problems producing the carbine in quantity starting in November of 1942.  Between poor management, lack of proper tooling and machinery, labor problems, and the inability to properly master the heat treating process required in producing the carbine, only a few thousand carbines were made during the first 8 to 9 months.  It wasnt until August of 1943 that Rock Ola had everything running smoothly and they started churning them out.  Between this slow start and the small size of the firm, Rock Ola only made a total of 228,500 M1 Carbines between November of 1942 and May of 1944 when production was halted.  This made Rock Ola one of the smallest producers of all of the companies that made these carbines, and as a result have made Rock Ola M1 Carbines extremely collectible and valuable today.  This example is serial number 6204489 and was made in May of 1944, the very last month of production.  It is a beautiful carbine in excellent original condition.  Every part on it has been checked and is correct for this block of production.  According to the owner, the only part on this carbine that has been changed is the stock.  The original stock that was on this carbine was identical to this one except for the "circle P" on the pistol grip BUT had been lacquered with a thick coat of clear coat.  It took the owner years to find the right Rock Ola stock to replace the laquered original and keep the carbine correct.  This stock has a nice clear RMC Ordnance Wheel cartouche on the right side of the butt and the sling well marking is faint but legible.  It is free from cracks or repairs, and has some very nice contrasting grain in it giving it a very attractive appearance.  All of the other parts in this gun are the same parts it left the Rock Ola factory with.  The front sight has never been off of this carbine and neither has the barrel band or rear sight.  The original factory parkerizing and blued finishes on the metal parts all look great.  They show very little combat or storage wear and still appear bright.  The bore is minty in this carbine.  It is mirror bright with strong rifling and no signs of erosion or pitting.  This Rock Ola M1 carbine comes with a khaki G.I. sling & oiler, and a WW2 "circle IR" marked magazine in excellent condition that is correct for Rock Ola.  Also included with this carbine is a completed "M1 Carbine Data Sheet" that details all of the parts and variations in this carbine.  If you have been looking for one of these scarce carbines that hasnt been arsenal overhauled that is still in excellent condition and 100% correct, here is your chance to get one at a great price.
