Circa 1840 Antique PRUSSIAN Cavalry SABER
Very Nice NCO Sword with Etched Blade
Here we present an antique Cavalry Saber, made in the mid-19th Century in Germany, likely Solingen. This saber would have been issued to a non-commissioned officer, most likely to German cavalry or even to American troops during the Civil War, as many swords were imported for the conflict. In Europe during this time, there were widespread rebellions known as the Revolutions of 1848. The blade is nicely etched in floral scroll on both sides with about 33% coverage. The blade is straighter than many cavalry sabers. The pommel is a dove’s head shape with 3-bar handguard and round langets on each side. Grip is leather and wire wrapped wood.
