Description:
The Colt 1849 Pocket Model was made from 1850 to 1873 in the serial range 12000 to 340000. The 5 or 6-shot revolvers were fitted with either a 3, 4, 5, or 6 inch octagon barrel, most fitted with loading levers, blue metal with case hardened frame, lever and hammer, grip straps of brass (silver plated), or steel (silver plated or blued), stage hold-up scene on the cylinder, and .31 cal. percussion. This 1861 vintage 6-shot revolver is as described and is fitted with a 6 inch barrel and brass grip straps (silver plated). The gun is in very fine condition, with the barrel retaining 40-50% of its original blue and the trigger guard and back-strap retaining 70% silver plate, and the cylinder has lost most all of its original blue finish.. The frame retains 70% of its original color case-hardened finish and the hammer 85% of its original color case-hardened finish. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling and some areas of light corrosion, and the action functions well and has a very good lock-up. The cylinder has all of its safety pins and un-damaged nipples. The one piece wood grips retain most all of their original finish, fit perfectly, and have no cracks or chips. It is all numbers matching, frame to barrel, trigger guard, back-strap, wedge, cylinder pin, and cylinder. A nice looking 1849, great example of its type.
