Payment Types Accepted: cash, wire Description: COLT MODEL 1902 SPORTING SERIAL No 6035, (I am also listing # 6844 on this site) round hammer, crisp markings, very good bore, mo slide stop or safety, FRONT Slide serrations, original Colt plastic grips, Clip marked "PAT'D SET'T 8 1884."  Slight pitting on front right of slide, otherwise very clean.  Case hardened hammer. Patent on the left slide is in 3 lines indicating 2nd type issue. COLT FACTORY LETTER shows the gun was shipped on July 13, 1903 to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., Chicago, Ill This is one of a production run of only 6,915 pistols, with many design differences in one of colts lowest production runs in history! Any many of these pistols were surrendered during World War ll scrap steel drives. It is estimated that less than 3,000 examples remain, worldwide. Sporting Model serial #'s run from #4275-11,000=6,725 and from #30,000-30190. Thats it! Rear sight dovetailed, round butt, long slide, front serrations. Another os the Colts collected by my grandfather, John Benjamin Gillespie (1899--1973), former Chief of Detectives of the Aberdeen, Washington Police Force.  This gun has not been out of the gun safe for decades. Serial numbers on the Sporting began at appox. 4,275 and ran to 11,000 and then 30,000 to 30,190.  This is about the 2,000th Sporting. Very pretty. When is the last time you saw a four digits serial number on a Colt?
