Nicknamed a "Lemon squeezer," the Safety 32 was produced from 1888-1902. A significant detail of the First Model is the location of the knurled barrel release on the back center of the topstrap, rather than on the sides as in ALL later models of this pistol. Three inch barrel, nickel plated. Very good rifling, minor pitting. Lockup is absolutely tight. Action is crisp and tight. This wea[pon has not been fired much. And it has been in my family collection for more than 30 years. This model was officially called the New Departure and it is a great example of a major S&W evolution. Numbered 1-- 91417 Last patent date on the top of the barrell is 1885.
